Motorists could face more 20mph speed zones as the Government plans to hand over more powers for local councils to introduce the restrictions. New rules could also see more roads cut off to cars to allow for cyclists, and a baffling array of new road signs are expected to pop up in cities and towns across the country. Transport Minister Norman Baker also told the Liberal Democrat conference in Birmingham that people making car journeys of less than two miles should walk or cycle to their destination. He wants councils to have more power in the hope they will remove or change unnecessary signs, following the Government consultation next month.  More
