After an amazing u-turn, the government has announced that the existing MOT testing frequencies will remain in force, three years on new cars and yearly thereafter. There had been an outcry from road safety groups and motoring organisations, over the proposed changes, which would have increased intervals between MOT testing.

It would seem to make good sense not to change the frequency, which could have led to many unsafe cars using our roads, as a lot could become defective on a vehicle in a two years!
