Britain’s most depressing roads have been named and shamed, from the M25 to the A30. It’s official: the M25 has been voted by motorists as Britain’s most depressing road. The 117-mile London Orbital was singled out for its traffic jams and being boring in a Road to Freedom survey of 3,000 car drivers and bike riders conducted by Motorcycle News. In second place was the Birmingham stretch of the M6, followed by the A1 in London, and the M5 near Bristol. The three most common factors cited as making a road depressing were potholes, traffic jams and speed cameras. Fifty-nine per cent of car drivers admitted to finding driving in Britain stressful or very stressful, with 65 per cent claiming that it had become more stressful in the last two years. More
