New driver gets licence then crashes into test building!
on October 14th, 2010 at 11:17 pmA man who had just passed his driver’s license test failed to properly park his vehicle and drove into the Drivers License Center in Collier, police said. Collier police Chief Thomas Devin identified the driver as Robert Keller, 34, of Carnegie. Efforts to reach Keller this morning were unsuccessful. “He shook up a couple people, but he’s not going to be cited,” Devin said. The incident occurred yesterday at the facility in the Chartiers Valley Shopping Center on Washington Pike. “(He) had just passed the test and pulled into a parking space in front of the center to drop off the instructor,” Collier police Sgt. Brian Halbleib said. “He thought the vehicle was in park.” When the vehicle started moving, Keller panicked and apparently hit the accelerator instead of the brake, police said. The car jumped the concrete parking stop and slammed through the front door and glass wall, coming to rest inside the building amid more than a dozen startled and scared customers and employees.
