Police have launched an offensive against motorists who operate the music device, saying it is as dangerous as using a mobile phone. Officers are concerned that the “iPod generation” is putting other road users at risk when changing tunes on iPods and other MP3 players while behind the wheel. Forces across the country are interpreting existing road safety rules, which state that drivers must not be distracted, to include the most up-to-date music players despite many new cars coming with a docking station installed.
